Inspiration
Flocking AI, inspired by the natural behaviors of birds and fish, mimics their collective movement patterns. In nature, birds and fish demonstrate a remarkable ability to move in unison, creating fluid and dynamic formations. This coordination results from simple rules each individual follows, such as aligning with neighbors, avoiding collisions, and moving towards the group's center. The beauty of this phenomenon lies in its emergent behavior: complex, harmonious motion arising from simplicity. It is a mesmerizing dance of nature, where each movement contributes to the larger choreography. Flocking AI captures this elegance, providing insights into decentralized coordination and has applications in robotics, animations, and crowd simulations, echoing the seamless grace of nature’s own designs.
Flocking AI
The Flocking Algorithm is a computational model inspired by collective behavior observed in nature, such as birds flying in formations or fish swimming in schools. It simulates emergent behavior in groups of entities by applying three principles: alignment, cohesion, and separation.
Bio Luminescence
Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by living organisms. It is a form of chemiluminescence. Bioluminescence occurs widely in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in some fungi, microorganisms including some bioluminescent bacteria, and terrestrial arthropods such as fireflies.

Pneuma is the greek word for spirit , While Darya is a Persian and Sanskrit for Ocean. The installation represents Spirits of the ocean via these flocks of Bioluminescent marine life.
The installation was commissioned by Immerse Impact , Storiculture and showcased at Sadhana Dell 'Arte , Goa.

Schools of Fishes moving via Flocking AI. All the calculation for flocking movement is done in Realtime and The Flock of fishes is taking input via mouse and reacting to input from the user in real time. Each individual fish is a 3D object having its own movement constrained by the group behaviour.
